Our service acts as a layer between you and third-party AI providers (like OpenAI). To get you an AI response, we must send your conversation data to them.

Do NOT share any personal, sensitive, or confidential information in your chats. We cannot guarantee how third-party providers handle your data.

1. Our Philosophy: Radical Transparency

We don't believe in hiding behind complicated legal jargon. Our goal is to be completely upfront about how our service works. We are not an AI company; we are a service that provides you with easier, more affordable access to large AI models built by other companies. This business model requires us to share your data, and we want you to understand that from the start.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

To create and maintain your account, we collect:

  • Email address: For login and essential communication.
  • Password: Always encrypted and never stored in plain text.
  • User ID: A unique identifier for your account.

Chat & Conversation Data

This is the most important part. We collect:

  • Your Prompts: The questions and instructions you type.
  • Conversation History: The back-and-forth of your chats to provide context for the AI.

This data is sent directly to the third-party AI provider you select (e.g., OpenAI) to generate a response.

Billing & Usage Data

To manage payments and track your usage, we collect:

  • Payment Information: Handled securely by our payment processor, SafePay. We never see or store your full credit card details.
  • Token Usage: We count the tokens you use to calculate your bill.
  • API Keys: Your encrypted API keys for using our service programmatically.

3. How We Share Your Information

This is the most critical section of our privacy policy. To provide our service, we MUST share some of your data with third-party companies.

AI Providers (e.g., OpenAI)

What we share: Your full conversation history (prompts and AI responses) and a unique, anonymous user ID to prevent abuse.

Why we share it: This is essential for the AI to understand the context of your conversation and provide a relevant response. We cannot provide our service without doing this. Please review the privacy policies of the AI providers you choose to use.

Infrastructure & Service Providers

We use trusted partners to run BudgChat:

  • SafePay: For secure payment processing.
  • Firebase/Google Cloud: For our database, hosting, and authentication.

Legal Requirements

We will only share your data if required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order. We will always attempt to notify you unless legally prohibited.

4. What We DON'T Do With Your Data

  • We NEVER sell your personal data to anyone.
  • We NEVER use your conversations to train our own AI models (we don't have any).
  • We NEVER share your data for marketing or advertising purposes.

5. Your Rights and How to Control Your Data

You are in full control.

Export Your Data

You can download your entire chat history and account information at any time from your account settings.

Delete Your Data

You can permanently delete individual chats or your entire account. When you delete your account, all your data is irreversibly wiped from our servers within 30 days.

6. Data Security

While we cannot control the security of third-party AI providers, we take the security of the data on our own systems very seriously. We use industry-standard practices like encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256), and limit access to our systems to only essential personnel.
